Featured exclusively in the peak performing Impreza WRX STI, the electronically controlled DCCD AWD system is a variation of Symmetrical AWD. Created to deliver you with a crisp steering feel, tenacious grip and superb handling, the system employs an uneven split centre differential gear. This then works with the helical and electromagnetic Limited Slip Differentials, enabling the system to sense the status of all wheels and automatically control each move when turning and going straight, transferring torque and grip as required.

Subaru incorporates the Vehicle Dynamics Control System to provide you with an additional level of active reassurance to complement Symmetrical AWD. Designed to help prevent the loss of traction and stability in extreme situations, the system monitors and analyses various sensors while driving. If control is approaching the limit, the AWD torque distribution, engine power output and brakes on each wheel are controlled to suit the level of expected danger, thus maintaining vehicle stability at all times.
