• Passive Safety

Subaru has always made personal safety its top priority,
ever since the introduction of the Subaru 360, Subaru’s first passenger vehicle in 1958.
Instead of simply delivering a safer driving experience through enhanced controls,
Subaru has always sought outstanding levels of protection,
and has been at the forefront of implementing a range of safety technologies
for protection in the event of a collision.

As a former aircraft manufacturer, passenger safety has been incorporated
in designs from very early on.
These ideas were incorporated in the 360, Subaru’s first passenger vehicle,
due to the challenges faced with the compact body used.
To test these designs, Subaru implemented its own crash test methods
for investigating frame compression.
Subaru then took the lead as a Japanese car manufacturer by installing seatbelts,
as well as using dummies for testing pedestrian protection.
The results led to constant improvements made to production vehicles,
culminating in the development of various technologies related to safety.
One of these is Subaru’s renowned Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frames body, with a balance of rigidity and safety.

Driving enjoyment can only be achieved with a constant sense of safety,
overcoming any road or weather conditions.
To this end, Subaru has been active in the automotive industry for more than half a century.
This is no doubt the reason why Subaru has won a multitude of safety awards
across four continents for high levels of safety.
Spectacular driving with the safety to back it up.
Subaru is striving to deliver high levels of safety for all.
