SMH rates Outback 3.6R four stars

        Dec 4 , 2009 [Australia]
The new generation Subaru Outback 3.6R achieves a four star rating in today’s DriveLife magazine in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Rated ahead of the Nissan Murano TI and Ford Territory Ghia AWD, the Outback 3.6R is described as “…a convincingly solid package.”

Tester Jez Spinks says: “Like most Subarus, the Outback feels nothing less than solidly constructed, with nary a squeak or rattle during our time with the car.”

He adds: “As with the Liberty (Legacy), the Outback makes a leap in cabin space – noticeably rear legroom that can now be called vast rather than tight.”

He concludes: “…Outback’s build quality, robust engineering and light off-roading ability remain formidable while other areas improve.

“A more spacious and practical cabin, an expanded features list and a bigger six-cylinder that is more driveable and more economical than the old engine all contribute to a convincingly solid package.”
