Subaru’s excellent whole-of-life costs are highlighted in the latest quarterly edition of respected used car value journal Glass’s Guide.

The long-term value of the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive range has prevailed, despite changes in Glass’s Guide categories in the last year, which have seen more expensive competitors reclassified into some segments where Subaru has traditionally dominated.

In the Medium car category, Subaru Liberty (Legacy) variants take five of the top 10 spots at 36 months old, including first, second, fourth and fifth.

Libertys (Legacys) also fill five of the top 10 places at 48 months – and at 60 months, Liberty (Legacy) takes every top 10 spot.

It is a similar story in the Compact SUV segment, with Outback taking five top 10 spots at 36 months.

At 48 months, Outback and Forester take five top 10 places and at 60 months, Outback places second through to seventh, with a Forester variant in eighth.

In the Small car segment, Imprezas take four of the top five spots at 36 months, including first and second.

At 48 months, Impreza variants take seven of the top 10, including first, third and fourth.

At 60 months, Impreza has eight spots, including second through fifth.

Retained value, durability, engineering and safety are among the qualities frequently quoted by customers as their reasons for choosing Subaru.
