        New generation Subaru sales strong

        May 5 , 2009 [Australia]
Subaru’s new generation Forester and Impreza continued their strong sales performance in April, two of the few models across all brands to show gains, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

Overall April sales of 2999 vehicles gave Subaru a 4.7 per cent market share for the month, the second highest achieved by the company.

Impreza sold 1008, up 5.9 per cent on the same month last year, while Forester sold 1239, up 11.9 per cent for the month and 24.7 per cent year-to-date. Forester was the tenth best-selling vehicle for the month, while both models achieved April records.

Forester remains the year’s bestseller across all SUV sales categories.

Tribeca sales of 164 were also strong, with the Subaru result rounded-out by run-out sales of 356 Libertys (Legacys) and 232 Outbacks. The new generations of both vehicles are due in the last quarter of this year.

Subaru’s April sales were down 5.5 per cent for the month, compared to an overall industry drop of 23.9 per cent.
