Strong regional performance from Subaru

Subaru national sales of 3050 vehicles in August included strong increases in South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, according to official VFACTS figures.

194 sales in SA placed Subaru up 31.1 per cent over the previous August. This included 72 Imprezas, up 67.4 per cent and 45 Libertys (Legacys), up 55.2 per cent. Combined Forester and Outback sales of 77 gave Subaru 22.5 per cent of the Compact SUV segment.

Queensland sales of 671 vehicles were up 22.7 per cent. Standout models were Outback, with 88 sales, up 66.0 per cent, Liberty (Legacy) with 125 (+50.6 per cent) and Forester with 219 (+37.7 per cent).

Subaru's best regional market share for August was in Tasmania, at 9.2 per cent. Subaru retailed 132 vehicles in Tasmania, up 13.8 per cent over the same month last year. Combined Forester and Outback sales gave Subaru a dominant 42.2 per cent of the Compact SUV market.

In Western Australia, 315 Subaru sales were up 9.0 per cent on the previous August. Star performer was Liberty (Legacy) with 82 sales, up 105 per cent for the month and Outback at 44, up 51.7 per cent.
