Subaru has achieved an impressive result across all models in NRMA's latest internationally accredited low speed crash test program.
Impreza, Outback, Liberty and Forester have all been ranked at the top of their categories, each gaining a top three placing.
NRMA low speed crash tests subject vehicles to a pendulum crash test that replicates a 15km/h collision with a solid barrier or a 30km/h collision into the rear of another vehicle.
Vehicles are then given a rating by calculating their repair cost as a percentage of their purchase price.
Impreza was a stand out with WRX topping the small to medium car category with a rating of 9.4 per cent and the Impreza RS Hatch in second position, scoring 12.8 per cent. Both were well ahead of the next closest competitor, the Mazda3 Maxx Sport that achieved a 15.1 per cent rating.
Subaru Outback and Forester were also impressive, placing first and third respectively in the Small 4WD category. Outback achieved an 11.5 per centrating, while Forester scored 12.0 per cent, well ahead of its nearest rival, the Nissan X-Trail, which scored 17.7 per cent.
Forester also recorded the lowest overall repair cost in the Small 4WD category.
Liberty placed third in the competitive medium car category, with a score of 12.6 per cent.
Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia says that the results reflect Subaru's commitment to providing the best value for customers.
"Subaru and FHI engineers are constantly refining the design and manufacture of our vehicles to ensure that repair costs are kept a low as possible for customers.
We also work very closely with NRMA's Insurance Industry Research Centre to discuss ways we can improve on current design to further reduce costs, and this has proved very successful".
