Subaru achieved record August sales of 3101 vehicles, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

The figure included an all-time record 986 Impreza sales, further emphasising the strength of the small car market.

Impreza sales were a massive 96.8 per cent ahead of the same month last year.

Subaru’s overall figure is 16.7 per cent ahead of the same month last year and gives the brand a market share of 3.8 per cent year-to-date.

Strongest performer was Forester, the best seller in the SUV Compact market, with 1045 sales. Combined with 395 Outback sales it gave Subaru a leading 24 per cent of the segment.

There was other good news across the range with Liberty achieving an August record of 675.
