Subaru vehicles have rated highly in new vehicle security ratings announced today by NRMA Insurance.
The Subaru Liberty (Legacy) and Impreza were rated in the top 10 best performers overall. Both scored a maximum 100 points for identification.
Impreza scored 100 for theft resistance, and Liberty (Legacy) 85.
Out of a total possible score of 120, Liberty (Legacy) rated 101.5 and Impreza 100.
The Subaru Outback was also listed among the big improvers, scoring 85 for theft resistance, 100 for identification and a total 90.5 out of a possible 120.
In the 4WD category, Forester rated a maximum 100 for identification and 75.5 overall.
Liberty (Legacy) GT wagon topped the medium car category while versions of Impreza rated in the top five of the small/medium category.
Outback rated second in the 4WD category and Forester sixth.
Every Subaru model is now protected by thousands of microscopic DataDots that carry the car’s unique Vehicle Identification Number.
Combined with sophisticated immobilisers and, in the case of turbocharged Imprezas, keypad alarm systems, this takes theft protection to an even higher level.
Each DataDot is laser-etched with the vehicle’s VIN.
They can easily be identified by Police, insurers, registration authorities and authorised dealerships.
