Subaru has rated fifth among automotive brands in a national Reader's Digest annual survey of Australia's Most Trusted Brands.

Subaru rated ahead of Jaguar, Lexus, Ford, Nissan, Chrysler/Jeep, Mitsubishi, Audi and Hyundai.

The top five automotive brands were: Mercedes-Benz, Holden, Toyota, BMW and Subaru.

In the overall brand rating, Subaru ranked thirty-eighth.The survey of 1,500 people was to find out the professions, government services, charities and brands that Australians trust the most.

All data was weighted by age, gender and area of residence according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures to ensure a true representation of the population's views.

The survey is featured in the June issue of Australian Reader's Digest magazine, out now.
