Liberty (Legacy) 3.0R spec.B is the best Japanese car in 2004 says Melbourne's Herald Sun

Sep 24 , 2004 [Australia]
n a road test of the Liberty (Legacy) 3.0R spec.B published in today’s edition of the Melbourne Herald Sun, Motoring Editor Paul Gover has rated it 19 out of 20 and says "The best Japanese car in 2004 is also a worthy and serious rival to the great cars and brands of Europe."
Gover writes: "The R spec.B is an inspiring combination of luxury, style and pace. It is the best Euro-Jap newcomer we've driven."

He describes the "quality as great, it is extremely enjoyable to drive…"

He adds: "We expected the Liberty (Legacy) 3.0R spec.B to be good. We didn't expect it to be great.

Our test car was a wagon and it's one of the very few cars in 2004 we would have been happy to keep at home. It's a great drive, easy to live with and great value in its class."

Gover says: "The real shock came when we tickled the throttle and the 3-litre six came to life. For a second we thought it was a GT turbo motor. And that's a rush."

He concludes: "We would also put the RSB Liberty (Legacy) ahead of a surprising group of classy Europeans, including the price-rival Audi and Volvo wagons that line up against our test cars."
