        Subaru smashes annual sales record

        Dec 3 , 2004 [Australia]
Subaru has smashed the 30,000 annual sales barrier for the first time - with a month of selling still to go.

The brand retailed 2968 vehicles in November, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

It was also a record November for Subaru, with sales 20 per cent ahead of the same month last year.

Sales year-to-date at the end of November were 31,406, representing a 3.6 per cent market share.

Forester and Impreza had record Novembers, with sales of 1041 and 732 units respectively. It is the fourth time this year that monthly Forester sales have exceeded 1,000 units.

Also performing strongly were Liberty with 605 units and Outback with 590.

Liberty was nearly 22 per cent ahead of the previous November.

Combined Forester and Outback sales again gave Subaru a commanding 25.5 per cent of the SUV Compact sales segment for the month.

Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia said: "There are some interesting trends in the result, including the fact that half of Liberty sales were of the recently introduced three-litre variants and turbocharged GTs, proving its value as a viable alternative to the European luxury cars.

"Impreza WRX STi demand was also very strong, with 57 sales since the introduction of the refined 2005 model year version.

"We’re hopeful that we will end the year with more than 33,000 sales."
