Five Subarus in top ten at Rallye Perce-Neige

Feb 10 , 2003 [Canada]
Five Subarus finished in the top ten at the 2003 Rallye Perce-Neige in Maniwaki, Québec, this weekend. Jean-Paul Pérusse (3rd), Julien Pilon (4th), Joël Levac (6th), Frédéric Labrie (7th), and Jacques L’Estage (8th) all drove Subaru Impreza WRXs. The rally was won by veteran Sylvain Erickson of Gatineau, Québec, in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo.

Reigning North America Champion Tom McGeer, with new co-driver Howard Davies, was running third when a misjudged turn took their Impreza WRX off the road and into a snowbank. It took 30 minutes to free the car, by which time the rally was over for them.

“The car itself was great and Howard and I were working incredibly well together for our first race,” said McGeer. “We’re really looking forward to the next event, at the Rallye de Québec.”

Davies, former 1996 British Rally Champion, was competing with McGeer in his first Canadian rally.
The next event in the Subaru Canadian Rally Championship, the Rally International de Québec, starts February 26, in Québec City.
