The second generation Subaru Forester X has been named best 4WD under $35,000 in the Rural Press/Queensland Country Life "Country Car of the Year" awards.
The entry-level Forester X underwent three days of rigorous testing off road, on dirt tracks, country roads and major highways.
A team of 25 test drivers assessed various aspects of each vehicle, from interior comfort and finish to overall ride, safety features, value for money and suitability for the car's target market.
The event was conducted by Rural Press'fs Queensland Country Life newspaper and sponsored by Personalised Plates Queensland.
Late last year, Forester X was also named Australia'fs Best Recreational Four Wheel Drive in the combined motoring organizations Australia'fs Best Cars 2002 awards.
Cars were evaluated by the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAASA, RACWA, RACT and AANT against a broad range of criteria including: on road performance, design, value and functionality.
Forester is a multiple award winner in the national Best Cars awards. It is also one of the most awarded vehicles in Australian motoring history.
