"Average day" still leaves Bundock and Forbes first

Jun 13 , 2003 [Australia]
Subaru-sponsored sailors Darren Bundock and John Forbes still lead the European Tornado Class Championships despite what they classed as an average day on the waters off Cagliari Sardinia, Italy.

While only managing to score a 12th and third place in the dayÅfs races, the duo maintain a four-point margin at the head of the field.

After six races each team can now discard their worse race.

Day four saw a similar weather pattern with a lazy sea breeze in the morning, slightly increasing in the afternoon.

The race committee elected to run the course closer to the shore in the morning and unfortunately the breeze trended right, forcing the competitors into the shore and underneath the headland at the yacht club.
This created a very one way track, therefore difficult to make any places after the first leg.

Andreas Hagara dominated the day with a score card of 3,1 to move to third overall. The Greek team that dominated the previous day was disqualified in the first race for an early start and finished 27th in the last race to plummet down the rankings.
