Subaru dominated sales of Compact Sports Utility Vehicles in August, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

Forester sales totalled 1056, making it the highest selling vehicle in its segment, with a commanding 17.4 per cent.

Strong Forester sales have been further enhanced by the launch of the turbocharged XT model last month.

Combined with sales of 320 Outbacks, this gave Subaru a total SUV Compact share of 22.7 per cent.

Impreza sales of 637 were an August record, 127 units ahead of the same month last year.

Liberty, which along with Outback will be superseded later this month by all-new models, sold 365.
