Subaru confidence in Liberty (Legacy) and Outback well founded, says The Daily Telegraph

Sep 26 , 2003 [Australia]
Following its first drive of the new Liberty (Legacy) and Outback, The Daily Telegraph in Sydney today says Subaru's confidence in its new range of suspension and engine improvements seems well founded.

Motoring Editor Kevin Hepworth writes: "If you want to hide shortcomings in a new vehicle, the twisting alpine roads of New Zealand's South Island are worth avoiding.

"Subaru, obviously brimming with confidence, turned its new Liberty (Legacy) and Outback range loose on the area and while the narrow, steep and winding tarmac and gravel roads were daunting, the confidence Subaru showed in its new range of suspension and engine improvements seems well founded.

"Clear from the outset is the amount of work Subaru's engineers have poured into rejuvenating the new models. The improvements are obvious both in the dynamics of the cars and the "feel' of the overall package."
