Sydney sees Subaru B11S concept car

Oct 16 , 2003 [Australia]
Subaru's revolutionary concept car, the B11S, is starring at Sydney Motor Show from 16-26 October.
The B11S is a new type of four-door coupe, developed to demonstrate possible future design direction for Subaru.

It features superb driving performance, courtesy of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and its twin turbo six-cylinder 3.0 litre horizontally opposed boxer engine. It produces 294 Kilowatts of power at 6,400 rpm and 550 Newtonmetres of torque from 3,600 to 4,800 rpm.

The B11S has been developed to pursue the concept of "Gran Utility Turismo", embodying the perfect blend of sporty driving, comfort, functionality and elegance.

It features attractive styling and packaging, which reflect the corporate philosophy of Fuji Heavy Industries, the maker of Subaru cars: innovative, individual and courageous.

The exterior design, composed of sophisticated flowing curves, expresses an elegant, sleek coupe, while the car comfortably accommodates four adults.

The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, integrated with a five-speed automatic transmission, comes with VTD (variable torque distribution), Subaru's unique, electronically controlled torque distribution system.

Inside, the two pairs of side doors open gate-style and latch in the middle without a conventional B-pillar, an arrangement that allows easy access to the back seats and makes interior room seem even more spacious.

Developed specifically for the B11S, the frosted glass roof provides an open-air feeling and creates a pleasant soft light inside the vehicle that enhances the quality look of its interior.
