Subaru's second successive victory Acropolis Rally

The Acropolis Rally, round 8 of the 1999 WRC, was held from June 6 to 9.Richard Burns, driving a Subaru Impreza, recorded another 1999 WRC win for the Subaru World Rally Team. This follows on from Subaru's first win of the season in the previous Rally of Argentina. With these two consecutive victories, expectations of more Subaru victories in thesecond half of the rally season are growing.

Burns and his teammate Juha Kankkunen, discovering a resurgence in form after the Rally of Argentina, were placed 1-2 in the early stages. Onthe second day, Kankkunen's car experienced suspension trouble and he was forced to retire from the event. However, Burns remained and maintained his good form through to the final day. In the special stageson the final day he took consecutive best times. Burns' victory left second-place Carlos Sainz of the Toyota team more than one whole minute behind.
