The Rally Australia, round 13 of the 1999 WRC, was held from November 4 to 7. The Subaru World Rally Team's Richard Burns placed first in his Subaru Impreza '99, stringing up an impressive series of fastest times and leading the rally throughout. Burns held Toyota's Carlos Sainz in check to score a brilliant victory.
The Rally of Great Britain, the fourteenth and final round of the '99 WRC season, was held from November 21 to 23. Burns was again victorious, while teammate Juha Kankkunen took second place. As top drivers retired one after another, Burns drove with his natural aggressiveness and Kankkunen put in a solid veteran run to close out the season with a one-two finish. Their performance was sheer perfection.
The win at the Rally of Great Britain was the fifth WRC victory for Subaru this season, more than any other manufacturer participating in the 1999 WRC.
