[Australia] New Subaru Sales Record

Subaru achieved a new sales record of 40,200 vehicles in 2013, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

Subaru's December sales were also strong with the 3660 monthly figure up 22.2 per cent on the same month last year.

Best-seller for Subaru in 2013 was the multi award-winning Forester, which totalled 13,649 sales, followed by another runaway sports utility vehicle success story for the brand, XV, with 10,764 sales.

Forester sales were up 18.3 per cent for the year and XV 8.6 per cent.

The sales total gave Subaru a 3.5 per cent market share in 2013 and the new annual record surpasses the 40,189 figure established in 2012.

The Subaru result was rounded out by sales of 6871 Imprezas, 3934 Outbacks, 2613 Libertys (Legacys), 1411 BRZs and 1326 Tribecas.

Subaru Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: "2013 was an outstanding year for Subaru, with the addition of new generation Forester to the range, plus introduction of our first diesel automatic, in Outback, which has brought an even wider audience to this incredibly frugal SUV range.

"With new generation WRX and WRX STI due in the first third of the year, we're looking forward to maintaining our momentum in 2014."
