At Subaru we believe that corporations should clearly recognize their social responsibility to continuously do their part to minimize any negative environmental impact that may be created as a result of their commercial activities. This commitment to the environment shown by Subaru derives from the standard set by our parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI).

Apart from continually striving to make the Subaru line of vehicles more efficient and more environmentally sensitive, FHI is proactively reducing the environmental impact of each stage of its operations, from product development through manufacturing, usage and end-of-life disposal. This is further evident in North America where FHI has formed the North American Environmental Committee (N.A.E.C.)

The N.A.E.C. is represented by FHI and their 5 North American subsidiary companies including Subaru of America, Inc., Subaru Canada, Inc., Subaru Research & Development, Inc., Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. and Robin Manufacturing USA, Inc.

The group was formed to unite Subaru members, implement an environmental conservation plan designed to develop cleaner business operations through manufacturing, distribution and retail sales outlets, and find additional ways to contribute to society as a responsible global citizen.

Every year, top representatives from FHI and the various North American subsidiary companies meet to present activities and accomplishments, discuss specific goals, and review their collective global environmental strategies. However, the effort is not just global. Each member company establishes programs in their local community and throughout their established markets. Furthermore, all five NAEC companies have achieved ISO 14001 certification, an internationally recognized standard for Environmental Management Systems.

At Subaru we believe we can make a significant difference in protecting our environment for future generations. So join us as we plan for tomorrow’s earth today.
