It is true that vehicles consume fuel and emit carbon dioxide (CO2). Subaru have enforced strict standards to reduce exhaust gases that cause air pollution, such as carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbon (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Low emission vehicles that meet these strict standards are being released continually onto the market. Making this possible are the technological developments for better fuel efficiency, such as the improvements made to the engine for enhanced efficiency, reduction of transfer loss and running resistance or rolling/wind resistance, and lighter vehicle bodies. Yet, the characteristics of the AWD system and high power engines remain unchanged. Additionally, petrol engine technology that makes use of materials with excellent thermal efficiency to prevent knocking at high compression ratios of 14 to 1 are being developed. These technologies will be applied in full to produce new petrol engines that rival the high efficiency and low emissions of diesel engines.
