The SUBARU BOXER DIESEL is the world’s first horizontally-opposed diesel engine for passenger vehicles that exhibits vast reductions in CO2 emissions as well as improvements in fuel economy. The SUBARU BOXER DIESEL, combined with the Symmetrical AWD, delivers the exhilarating and ideally balanced driving feel that only Subaru can provide. The design of horizontally-opposed engines minimises vibrations from the moving pistons, eliminating the need for a balance shaft that is generally used in other diesel engines of the same class to counter any vibrations. The result is an exceptional engine with low vibrations and high levels of silence. The rigid engine block enables the engine to be the same size as other petrol engines with a much lighter weight than other diesel engines as a result, and the engine response that the SUBARU BOXER is renowned for, plus the smooth acceleration are still there to be enjoyed in full. The level of CO2 emissions for the Legacy Sedan (AWD) is 148 g/km, and it can travel more than 1,000 km from a full tank (64 litres). Fuel efficiency is truly top of the AWD class.
