IT CORNERS THE MARKET ON CONFIDENCE. AND CORNERING.

    • Symmetry gives you balance. Balance gives you confidence. That is why Subaru has been developing and perfecting full-time Symmetrical AWD since 1972, and continues the advancement with the new X-Mode. The signature system maximises the power delivery with exceptional traction and even greater capability in rough or steep roads and slippery conditions. It offers a higher level of control that helps you navigate wet or snowy roads on the way to the slopes, travel over rough terrain on the way to the farthest adventures, and confidently step around danger when you encounter the unexpected. Yet its permanent all-wheel drive traction and control perform without sacrificing fuel-sipping efficiency.

    Constant Contact

The more your tyres are engaged with the road, the more control you have. Power is routed to all four tyres all the time in order to maintain the strongest possible connection to the road, maximising handling and control.

    Agility In An Emergency

In bad weather, or in the precious seconds it takes to react to a sudden situation, the symmetrical drivetrain with almost total side-to-side balance provides the stability, agility and traction that help you step around danger.

    Dynamic Performance

Exceptional traction makes acceleration immediate and exhilarating. And the symmetry helps the Forester deliver responsive handling because it’s more stable during cornering, for a unique feeling of control at all times.

KEEP YOUR PROFILE LOW AND YOUR EXPECTATIONS HIGH.

    • From the very first moment you turn the key, you will immediately feel the difference in the all-new Forester. The horizontally opposed configuration of the SUBARU BOXER engine places the pistons 180 degrees apart, inherently counteracting each other to reduce vibration. Even with the higher posture of the Forester, the flatter profile of the SUBARU BOXER engine delivers balance and stability for a superior feeling of control not usually found in a SUV.

    Increased Stability

Because the engine block has a flatter profile and sits lower in the chassis, the overall vehicle is more stably balanced and resistant to side-to-side motion than other designs.

    Smooth Power

At any rpm the engine delivers immediate, responsive power that comes on smooth. The pistons lay flat and work against each other to reduce vibrations, making the ride as comfortable as it is exciting.

    Long-lasting Performance

The engine’s flat design is inherently rigid and self-balancing, generating less vibration than "V" or "in-line” engines for more durability and more reliable performance.

    Every litre. Maximised.

    Confidence down every road.

    • What’s Inside:

    • The Forester offers a choice in transmissions—including the highly efficient Lineartronic CVT—each one mated to its own variation of Symmetrical AWD.

    • What It Does:

    • No matter how you choose to control the engine’s performance, you’ll always enjoy the solid balance and control of Symmetrical AWD that comes with impressive fuel-efficiency.

Lineartronic + Active Torque Split AWD

For instant, seamless response to changing conditions, the Lineartronic CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) uses a chain instead of a belt—allowing a greater span of overall ratios for improved performance and efficiency as well as a faster response to throttle input. It’s longitudinally paired with an active torque-split AWD system that responds to traction conditions, the transmission and driver inputs by continuously controlling the torque distribution front to rear.

6-Speed Manual Transmission + Viscous Centre Differential AWD

For maximum control and sporty satisfaction, a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission is standard on 2.0i, 2.0i PREMIUM, 2.0D, 2.0D PREMIUM, and 2.0D SPORT. It’s paired with an AWD system maximise a centre differential with viscous LSD (Limited Slip Differential). If wheel speed differs between the front and rear axles, the system helps distribute power to the wheels with the most traction. The 6-speed offers smoother, more precise shifting, along with the compact size and light weight that add to Forester’s sporty feel.

    Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept

The inherent advantages of the Subaru layout – balance, composure and response – are elevated with the Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept (DC³). With increased stiffness to resist flexing, DC³ provides a more stable platform for the Forester, and allows the suspension to be more finely tuned to absorb bumps and react in the turns for smoothness and control.

    Front Suspension

A firmer front suspension gives the Forester a positive balance between ride comfort and handling over a variety of surfaces. For DIT models, the front suspension is further stiffened with higher spring rates to enhance roll control and improve response. The new friction-control oil seals, guide bushings and hydraulic fluid on the struts also work together to smoothen out minor vibrations during initial acceleration.

    Rear Suspension

For the first time, high-response valves for the rear shock absorber have been adopted to maximise stability and provide increased responsiveness. And for the DIT model, a rear support sub-frame has been added for a more rigid base to mount the rear suspension. Working together they make the rear of the Forester feel more controlled and the steering more responsive.

    • Paddle Shifters

    • Paddle shifters are mounted on the steering wheel for fingertip control, giving you the power to select the gear ratio of the Lineartronic CVT that best suits your driving situation. The result is a sharper and sportier driving experience.

    • Cruise Control

    • Electronic cruise control allows the driver to maintain a preset speed on the open road. Located on the steering wheel, the controls are finished in a modern dark-metallic sheen.

    SI-DRIVE

Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) can adjust the responsiveness of its drivetrain to support your driving style, road conditions or any driving state at your immediate request. Quickly remap the throttle response and automatic-transmission shifting behavior to ensure that you always have the best performance for any circumstance.

    Sport Sharp Mode

With the focus on response, Sport Sharp Mode drives the engine to its maximum potential. In this mode, the engine responds directly to the accelerator for a more powerful delivery when accelerating. Use the paddle shifters in Sport Sharp Mode and you take more control of engine performance with eight gear ratios—like an 8-speed transmission—for truly spirited driving.

    Sport Mode

Sport mode delivers smooth engine performance at any driving speed. You’ll immediately feel a linear response that brings to life the refined, torque-rich response.

    Intelligent Mode

SI-DRIVE activates Intelligent Mode for immediate driving response and environmental responsibility. Throttle mapping balances smoothness and efficiency for an enhanced level of control.
