Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), a global manufacturer of transportation and aerospace-related products and the maker of Subaru automobiles, will exhibit the redesigned 2008 Subaru Outback and Legacy for the North American market at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. The 2007 NAIAS is slated to open its doors to the general public from January 13 - 21, 2007 (Press Days: January 7 -9, 2007) in Detroit, Michigan.

The 2008 Outback features a newly designed front face and aluminum wheels. Other enhancements include the addition of the SI-DRIVE (Subaru Intelligent Drive) system on the 3.0-liter engine model. SI-DRIVE allows the driver to select the style of driving performance according to their preference. Also new for 2008 is improved fuel economy for the 2.5-liter normally aspirated engine model and the application of a telescopic steering wheel to the entire range of vehicles.

The 2008 Legacy line is fitted with newly designed front and rear bumpers for shorter front and rear overhangs and a sportier appearance. New for 2008 is the Legacy 3.0 R Limited Sedan featuring the SI-DRIVE and the steering column mounted paddle shifters. The Legacy 2.5 GT Limited also will feature paddle shifters on automatic-equipped models. Legacy sedans now boast improved fuel economy for the 2.5-liter normally aspirated engine model, and the application of a telescopic steering wheel to the entire range of vehicles.
